Dennis' Wooden Rockers Biography
Denis Owen
is literally the principal guitarist for the band.
His music career started in third grade with violin lessons at Salt Creek Elementary School.
There, the music teacher gave Dennis some importance guidance by saying to him that he was
tone deft and should give up the violin.
This was advice that Dennis followed until he was 14, when he picked up the guitar.
This love affair has lasted for 38 years and has only grown stronger.
During college Dennis played the local folk scene with Amy Dixon and Tim O'Brien
(no, not that Tim O'Brien, but yes, that Amy Dixon-Kolar!)
He married his college sweetheart Cathy, and their marriage has survived three bands; Crosswalk, U-Turn and The Wooden Rockers.
Dennis presently plays Sunday mornings at Grace Bible Church in Aurora and uses his guitar at
school, but not as a discipline tool.
In all, Dennis is proud to be in the Wooden Rockers.
He is the one with the white hair that has only grown (not literally) more white every day
by playing with the likes of John Daly and Gary Schmidt.
